Professional Land Surveyor

Qualifications:

• Must have Professional Land Surveyor license in Iowa (surrounding states is a plus)
• A minimum of two (2) years of survey experience since obtaining a license is a plus, but not required
• Working knowledge of GPS, Total Stations, Levels, Scanners, & Leica equipment is a plus
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation is plus
• Knowledge of quality, health, and safety standards
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Organizing, prioritizing, and performing work assignments with minimal supervision

Responsibilities:

• Perform and provide control, boundary, topographic, utility, ALTA, Right-of-Way, bathymetric (is a plus), and construction surveying services.
• Search courthouse records, in-house survey records, Iowa land records, and other records relevant to the survey.
• Perform calculations based on field data, research, and other resources as necessary to determine property boundaries.
• Prepare topographic / utility survey drawings.
• Review, sign, and seal plats and other documents to record and write legal descriptions.
• Perform construction staking and as-built surveys.
• Operate survey-related equipment and software.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
• Assist in preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and invoices.
• Assist, train, direct, and supervise field crew and office staff members.
• Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain survey equipment.

Survey Crew Chief –

Martin & Whitacre Surveyors & Engineers, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Survey Crew Chief to work in our Muscatine, Iowa office.  The work will include a variety of survey projects, including Property Surveys, Construction Staking, and Topographic Surveys.  A typical crew will consist of the Crew Chief and a Rod Person; some projects may require the Crew Chief to work independently.  The crew will typically utilize robotic total stations, GPS, and differential levels with the potential to work with bathymetric sounding equipment, terrestrial laser scanners, and survey-grade drone equipment.

Qualifications –

• Requires a minimum of five years of experience performing all types of survey projects, including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, flood plain surveys, and as-built record surveys.
• Robotic Total Station, GPS, and basic AutoCAD knowledge required, Civil 3D and Leica equipment experience a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
